After a long wait , the much anticipated finals of the IPL took place on Friday October 15th , aptly on Dusherra . The game was played between Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders . It was an exciting match with back and forths , at least for the first 30 overs , until Chennai practically ran away with the victory .

Starting strong , Ruturaj Gaikwad and Faf du Plessis laid a solid batting partnership to open the game . Gaikwad showed why he was such an integral part of Chennai’s overall performance in the final match too , claiming and sealing the orange cap with his 32 run knock . But the real star of the show was Faf . Opening the innings , he only got out in the literal last bowl of the innings , trying to extend the target as much as he could .

In return Venkatesh Iyer and Shubhman Gill too had a very strong start, with Iyer being dropped at 0 and going to make 50 runs .But after the 2 got out , no one else could even come close.

Wicket fell so fast and regularly after the 10th over . What seemed to be an exciting match was done and dusted in a matter of 3 overs . It was truly a specimen of disciplined bowling in this high pressure game .

While this was not the game I expected to be played in the finals , the IPL overall had many exciting matches and individual performances , especially by young Indian players like Gaikwad and Venkatesh Iyer , further bolstering the talent of crickt we are sure to see in the years to come . Overall the event was a massive success , even if including the pains taken due to the pandemic . It truly does augur well for the sport going forward .

Have a great week!
